Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bellampalli, Mancherial District has celebrated ‘WORLD SOIL DAY’ on 5TH December, 2021 at Geetha nagar village, Tiryani mandal, K.B. Asifabad district with the theme of “Halt soil salinization, enhance soil production”. Initially Dr. M. Rajeshwar Naik, Senior Scientist & Head (Programme Coordinator) presided the meeting and explained different activated done by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bellampalli in adopted villages. He also addressed the tribal formers regarding importance of soil, soil health, need of soil conservation, biodiversity, usage of organic fertilizers instead of indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers in current agricultural trend. He also educated the farmers about different technologies and management practices of increasing soil health, productivity and organic carbon in soil. Chief guest Dr. M. Uma Devi, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Jagtial graced the occasion and addressed the farmers about the different practices for soil conservation and enhancing soil health and productivity. Further, appreciated the efforts of KVK, Bellampalli for conducting various activities under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP). After that distributed Vegetable Nutri Garden kits to the tribal women under TSP for the year 2021-22 and visited the exhibition stall arranged by RAWEP Students. For this programme, Dr. Shivakrishna Kota, SMS (Agricultural Extension), Sri. A. Nagaraju, SMS (Plant Protection), Dr. I. Thirupathi, SMS (Crop Production), Sri. U. Srvanthi, SMS (Horticulture) and Dr. B. Sathish Kumar SMS (Agrometeorology), local public representatives MPTC- Keshav Rao, Sarpanches- Parchaki Jangu, Purka Lakshmi, Kova Chinnaraju, Innovative farmer- N. Balaji, Tityani Mandal A.O- Sri. Tirumalesh, H.O- Smt. Jyoti and NABARD representative Mr. Shekar and 200 tribal farmers were attended.
