Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Malyal organized “World Soil Day 2022 under Tribal Sub Plan, 2022-23 at Rythuvedika, Gudur village and mandal on 05-12-2022. During the programme, Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator suggested farmers to go for judicious use of fertilizers recommended to avoid degradation of soil fertility. Also advised to use more organic agro inputs like, farm yard manure, vermicompost, Trichoderma, Pseudomonas and neem based products instead of using more complex fertilizers and pesticides. Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Hort.) gave tips for increasing of soil carbon content by incorporation of crop residues after harvesting of the crops instead of burning and he also explained about correction of micronutrient deficiencies, wilt management and IPM strategies to control flower thrips in Chilli crop. Sri V. Rajanarendar, ADA (T), Mahabubabad, Sri A. Rakesh, MAO, Gudur, 54 no.of farmers from 2 TSP adopted villages (Ootla and Chakru thanda) of KVK, Malyal and Gudur surrounding hamlets participated in the programme. Apart from this programme, KVK staff Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, Dr. N. Kishore Kumar, SMS (Extension), Sri B. Kranthi Kumar, SMS (Crop Production) and Smt. D. Usha Sri, SMS (Agrometeorology) participated as resource persons in World Soil Day celebrations organized by Department of Agriculture at Rythuvedika, Mahabubabad (Village and Mandal), Rythuvedika, Ramchandrapuram (Bayyaram Mandal), Rythuvedika,Chilukudu (Dornakal Mandal) and Rythuvedika, Kuravi, respectively. In all these programmes “World Soil Day theme for the year 2022: Soils, Where food begins”, importance of soil testing, green manuring, crop rotation and how to improve soil fertility by incorporation of crop residues” were highlighted. Sri. M. Laxminarayana, ADA, Mahabubabad, Sri D. Ramji Naik, MAO, Bayyaram, Sri Md Manju Khan, MAO, Kuravi, Sri Thirupathi Reddy, MAO, Mahabubabad, Sri A. Vishnu, HO, Mahabubabad and AEO’s of respective clusters participated. These programmes bringing awareness on the day to about 259 farmers of the district.
