A programme on world soil day was organised by RARS, Warangal at siddhapur farm on 05.12.2022 duly involving farmers of siddhapur and surrounding villages nearly 250 members were attended. The programme was started with welcoming address by Dr.Ch.Ramulu scientist soil science later on Associate Director of Research, RARS,Warangal DR.R.Uma reddy briefed about the importance of world soil day theme world soil day (5th December-2022) where food begins and explained about the importance of soil health for food good food production and after wards Dr.Ch.Ramulu explained about the indicators of soil health I.e. soil physical, chemical ,biological and soil organic matter. Further explained about the challenges of food production for not maintaining sustainable soil health for longer period they are day by day declining soil organic matter, imbalance of fertilizer usage, deficiencies of nutrients , lesser nutrients use efficiency , lesser crop response ratio and finally stagnation of crop yield or crop productivity and finally what are management practices to be adopted by the farmers to keep soil health for longer period they are addition of organic manures to the soil , grow green manures before the main crop , use bio fertilizers to solubilise the excess unsoluble nutrients, incorporate the crop residues, change the crop every year, adopt soil test based fertilizer recommendation finally follow the soil mulching to protect the soil. After wards the progressive farmers explained how they are maintain soil health, and we have done felicitation to the farmers those interesting to keep the soil health to produce quality grains. In this programme local political leaders, all scientists of RARS, Mandal agricultural officer, district agricultural officer were participated.
